My artistic practice explores how perception can shift through colour, movement, light and perspective. I create paintings and visual spaces that invite the viewer to slow down, look again and question what they are seeing.
What intensifies this, is the use of UV light on paintings painted with fluorescent paint, spray paint, oils and acrylics. As the lighting changes, some colours intensify, details appear or disappear, and what feels like the background suddenly becomes the focus. This allows the work to exist in more than one visual state and makes the act of looking a meditative and active experience. Thus, I am interested in what happens when a painting does not offer a single, fixed perspective, but instead changes together with its surroundings and also its beholder.
My work addresses feminism, sexualisation, gender roles, identity and the behaviours we encounter in everyday life. Rather than simply illustrating these subjects, I use them as starting points to question established ways of thinking. The influence of queer and club culture is particularly important to me, as these spaces reflect a different way of living and challenge thought, identity and self-expression.
Ultimately, I create in order to communicate. I want to make people question society, themselves and the way they perceive the world around them.
Clea Rojas Albert (b. 2001, Málaga, Spain), working under the artist name -K DE CLEA, is a German-Spanish artist currently based in Berlin. She grew up in Málaga before moving with her family to Hamburg at the age of 13. While completing her studies in Hamburg, she moved to Leipzig, where she lived and developed her artistic practice for two years before relocating to Berlin in 2026.
Clea began creating art during her Oberstufe, where she chose an art-focused programme and quickly developed a strong interest in painting. In 2021, she began entering the art market in Hamburg, exhibiting and selling her work. Since then, her work has been shown in spaces including K-OZ Galerie, Fabrik der Künste, Creative Quarter and Artstadt, among others. Further, she exhibits her work at techno events and dance parties, where her paintings infused with UV-light create the perfect atmosphere.
Her practice is inspired by street art, magic realism, verism, feminism, queer and ballroom culture. She works with oil, acrylic, fluorescent paint and spray paint, incorporating UV-reactive elements that allow her works to shift depending on the light.
At the heart of Clea’s practice lies the simple drive to create. Her work questions society and delivers messages through colour, imagery and perspective.
